- Open Groves & Work Parties
Drop by to meet us, tour the Groves and get a feeling for the people and the land here. Children welcome too! - Drum Circle
Open to beginners and experienced drummers alike, this circle includes instruction in some of the basics and then we are off and running, playing with rhythm together, rousing up our joy and energy as only African drums can do! Bring your own drum or use one of ours. Generally held monthly. Children welcome too if they are old enough to stay focused.<
- Communication Classes
One of our passions is helping both men and women to develop the fine art of communication in order to connect more deeply and resolve conflicts. Click here for more information about trainings and a peace-making service called "Listening Council"
- Seasonal Rituals
These quarterly events celebrate the change of seasons and ancient pagan holy days, such as Beltane and Halloween. Most often held in the meadow, the rituals usually include Circle Dances, prayers and symbolic acts appropriate to the season.
- Sacred Circle Dance
Drawn from the Dances of Universal Peace and other sacred circle dances, these circles are a sweet meditation-in-movement accompanied by songs that honor Mother Earth and Great Spirit in their many forms. Open to men and women both, these dances create a sense of beauty, joy and connection in community.
Most of us are carrying much unresolved grief — our own personal grief as well as multi-generational grief from our lineages-- because there are so few outlets for it in this culture. For healing, grief needs to be experienced, felt deeply, wept, wailed through and released. Grief wants to be released within the context of community, because those who are grieving need the support of others to work through it. Being alone seems to make the pain of grief even worse. The monthly Wailing Lodge provides a regular opportunity to work with this powerful emotion. The two day Grief Retreat and Ritual offered at Sacred Groves is a combination of what Therese has learned doing Grief Ritual with Sobonfu Somé and also offering sweatlodges, another powerful ceremony that helps move grief. Grief work is co-facilitated by Therese Charvet and Kendra E. Thornbury.
